A Silent Walk in Seipäjärvi – An Authentic Lapland Experience
Welcome to Seipäjärvi, a truly authentic and peaceful Lapland village, for an unhurried Walk of Silence. Here, you will see how we live and have lived for generations. Our home is filled with history and art, and you will also meet our two friendly dogs, who love to be petted.
The Experience
During the Walk of Silence, you can feel your heart sigh with peace and know that you are safe. We practice presence and honor one another by remaining silent. You may hold a friend’s hand and sense the vastness and beauty of nature together.
Feel the ground beneath your feet and hear the smallest sounds of the forest—or perhaps you will hear nothing at all. In the absence of streetlights and traffic noise, the silence is incredible. We are one with nature, both great and small. This sensory walk lasts approximately 1 hour.
The Journey
By Daylight: We walk peacefully along forest paths, shores, and through the village lane, occasionally stepping onto the frozen lake (from December onwards, provided the ice is safe). We listen to the sounds of nature, stopping to admire and touch our surroundings.
In the Dark: We walk by the light of a lantern or a small torch. We explore the village surroundings and the forest, watching the sky for the Northern Lights or even a falling star. During a full moon and clear skies, the moonlight is so bright we can see our shadows, and the stars feel close enough to touch.
Connection with Nature
The weather in Lapland is ever-changing. We embrace whatever mood Mother Nature offers us. With four distinct seasons, conditions vary greatly, but this journey can be experienced almost year-round.
On dry days—especially during crisp, cold frost—you can even experience the walk in wool socks. We have unique, locally handmade wool socks available for you to borrow if you wish to feel the earth more closely.
Program Details
Starting Point: The Old Shop of Seipäjärvi (Seipäjärventie 1765, Seipäjärvi).

The Walk: A guided route (~1h) planned according to the season and weather. In case of poor weather, part of the sensory experience will be held indoors.
The Finish: The walk ends at a "Kota" (traditional hut) by the shore (approx. 100m away). We remain silent for a moment, watching the fire.
