Welcome to experience authentic Lapland village atmosphere and unhurried peace in Seipäjärvi. During this visit, we take a gentle step back in time and enjoy the small, meaningful things in life.
A Warm Welcome and a Touch of History
Your journey begins at the old village shop of Seipäjärvi, where your hostess Virve welcomes you warmly. We start in a cosy way with coffee or juice, accompanied, of course, by delicious local pastries.
At the same time, we explore the old shop surroundings and their fascinating history. On display, you will find interesting old objects as well as beautiful paintings by local artist Toivo Pekkala, offering a glimpse into the soul and scenery of the area.
Stories and Atmosphere by the Lakeside
We continue towards the lakeshore through the old manor grounds. The log walls of the manor, dating back to the late 19th century, breathe the history of generations — you can almost sense the way of life from times gone by.
About 200 metres away, the lakeshore offers genuine peace and quiet in nature. Here you can:
Refresh yourself: Take a swim in the clean natural waters.
Try your luck at fishing: Fish from the pier or from a boat.
Enjoy music: Listen to your hostess singing or to a local folk musician playing.
Experience the lake: Take a short lake trip on a traditional seine-fishing raft, with beautiful views towards Seipävaara and the village settlement.
Have fun: If you wish, we can organise a small playful competition.
By the Fire and in the Peace of Silence
As you walk by the lakeshore or along the village road, you can feel the complete silence and peace of the surroundings. The day is crowned with an unhurried moment by the campfire or inside a traditional hut, where we grill sausages and enjoy a cold drink by the warmth of the fire.
This is a way of life that our hostess herself loves — and one she wishes to share with you.
Good to Know
Weather conditions: In case of rain, we will spend more time indoors. The programme will be adapted to suit the conditions, so the experience will be enjoyable whatever the weather.
Souvenirs: At the end of the visit, we return to the old village shop, where you may purchase small souvenirs to take home.
